MHA ICONOGRAPHY
Throughout this program, certain Discussions and Assignments display iconography to
signify that they are aligned to the NCHL Health Leadership Competency Model 3.0
( . As you attain your Master’s in
Healthcare Administration at Walden University, it is worth noting that your educational
achievements align not only to the mission, vision, and outcomes of the college and
university but also to a reputable, external model that is considered an asset among
healthcare leaders.
The Health Leadership Competency Model 3.0 provides you with a clear path towards
leadership skills development and delineates specific levels of achievement of proficiency in
those skills that will prove useful to your professional growth. Upon completion of this
program, you will have a list of these skills that you can incorporate into your résumé and
other professional profiles. Competencies represent the practical, professional skills that
healthcare administrators should possess not only to make themselves more marketable,
but also to help them deliver better health care.
The following table displays how each icon corresponds to one of the seven domains and its
associated skills. When you complete an Assignment, Assessment, or Discussion that
displays an icon, you will also note the level(s) to which the assignment is aligned, as
defined by the NCHL model. As you complete more of the aligned assignments, you will
continue to build upon these skills through the program until you have achieved a specific
level of proficiency.
